After confirming his divorce barely a month ago, four-time major championprofessional golfer Rory McIlroyis now saying he and his wife of seven years Erica Stoll have "resolved our differences."
An attorney for McIlroy filed a motion Tuesday to voluntarily dismiss adivorce petition that was filed on behalf of the golfer in Palm Beach County. Just days before the U.S. Open started in at Pinehurst No. 2 in North Carolina on Thursday.
Who is Rory McIlroy?
Rory McIlroy is a Northern Irish professional golfer, considered the third-ranked golfer in the world. The 35-year-old is a member of both the European Tour and the PGA Tour.
McIlroy won four majors in four years – 2011 U.S. Open, 2012 PGA Championship, 2014 Open Championship and PGA Championship. That's all but one, the Masters, which would give him a golf majors "grand slam."
This year, McIlroy is fourth on the PGA Tour money list with over $7.7 million in winnings. His 317 yards per drive ranks him second on tour in driving distance.

According to USA TODAY, Rory McIlroy filed documents for divorce on May 13, seeking enforcement of a prenuptial agreement between the two and a parenting plan going forward.
At the time McIlroy did not share the reasons for the filing. News outlets noticedMcIlroy's attorney, Thomas Sasser, wrote in the documents that "the marriage was irretrievably broken." His representatives also confirmed the news to the Telegraph and adding his desire was to ensure this difficult time was as "respectful and amicable as possible."
The divorce filing came days before Mcllroy competed in thePGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Clubin Louisville, Kentucky, where he finished tied for 12th place.
People Magazine shared he was seen without his wedding ring while competing in the championship at the Valhalla Golf Club. Stoll was also spotted without her ring during an event in Jupiter.

Nearly one month after filing, representatives for the golfer told The Guardian of London he filed a motion to voluntarily dismiss the divorce documents on June 11.
"There have been rumors about my personal life recently, which is unfortunate," McIlroy said in a statement to the outlet. "Responding to each rumor is a fool's game. Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realized that our best future was as a family together. Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning."
